Notice of Election & Advertisement of 2018 Budget
Notice is hereby given to the legal voters of the Mount Laurel Fire District #1, Township of Mount Laurel, County of Burlington, that the Board of Fire Commissioners will conduct the annual election of the legal voters of the Mount Laurel Fire District #1, to be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 2 PM to 9 PM for the purpose of filling two (2) full three (3) year terms and one (1) available unexpired partial one (1) year term on the Board of Fire Commissioners and approval of the 2018 Budget Proposal question.
The polls will open at 2 PM and remain open until 9 PM. The election will be held at the three (3) polling places as designated below. No person shall be permitted to vote in said election other than at the designated Polling Place for the Polling District in which he or she resides.
Residents that have voted in previous Fire District elections will vote in the same place. Those residents interested in voting but who are unsure where can call the Fire Department Headquarters Station (856-234-6053) from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday thru Friday to determine which polling place they are eligible to vote.
The Mount Laurel Fire District is requesting that you come out and vote on its 2018 budget. The proposed budget contains an increase that equates to $1.29 per month for the average assessed home ($237,700). The funding is necessary to maintain the current level of department operations to meet the needs and growth of our community.
Voters will be asked to vote on a proposal that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Mount Laurel Fire District #1 be approved in the sum of $10,489,938 of which $9,635,002 will be raised by taxation for current operating expenses in the year 2018.
